Parachute

Title: Egg parachute experiment

Aim: make sure we had the slowest falling egg.

  • Why did we do this experiment?  to see how much air resistance slow down the parachute.

In this experiment we were timing how long it took egg parachutes of different designs to hit the ground. This was investigating the physics concepts of air resistance and mass.

Method:

  • Numbered steps of the experiment. Should include planning, building, and dropping your parachute.

  1. First we plan the design of our parachute.
  2. Then we collected the materials we needed to make our parachute. These materials included: list materials here
  3. Blank paper
  4. Strings
  5. Plastic bags
  6. After making our parachute we took it upstairs and dropped it. We counted how long it took for the parachute to hit the ground using a stoptimer .

Results:

  • Did your egg break? How long did it take for your egg to fall? did not finish my parachute.

Discussion:

  • Did some of the parachutes fall faster than others?  yes the fastest one was 0.67 seconds

Conclusion:

  • How would you improve your design next time?  build one the next time
